HISTORY
The manipulation of fire has had an incredible impact on the development of human kind. Early humans used fire to nourish, to protect, to dwell amongst the darkness. Over the years the standard of candles has been changed to burn more evenly, longer, and with a pleasant scent if any scent at all. Early civilizations used anything they could to create the ambiance and other uses for candle light; These things included but is not limited to plants, insects, and crystalized whale sperm.
For decades candles have been used as the bread of sensuality, how often have you lit candles to create a mood and it quite literally makes you relax or feel stimulated by the scents emerging from the wax. Egyptians used candles as offerings outside temples made for the Goddess ISIS , they believed that lit candles showed them hope and that there was life after death. Almost all modern religions use candles for their religious ceremonies and for good reason.
The festival of lights better known as Hanukah is an 8 day celebration of liberation. The people who celebrate this holiday will light one candle a day for 8 days to commemorate the journey of their people who were able to free themselves and revolt against their oppressors.
Abrahamic religions, monotheistic religions, Polytheistic religions, even those who do not believe in religion use candles for its more than its physical properties. So incorporating them into your craft may be a lot more habitual than you realize. Trust your instincts you know more than you give yourself credit for.
I'm here for a good time, not a long time; it is great for me , however not for mother Earth. With all the options we have in the world it is 100% on you what you choose to spend your money on. When possible shop smart, choose sustainability.
Support business that you believe in, business that believes our world is to be cherished. The best sustainable candles to look out for are Coconut Wax, Beeswax, Soy wax, Stearin wax, just make sure you pay attention to the ingredients in your candles so you know that you aren't using anything that may be harmful to you or the environment.
HOW CAN CANDLES BE INCORPORATED INTO MY CRAFT?
Candles are an elemental practice. They can have specific color correlations that will help you focus your energy, but have a strong association with Fire, life, earth , air and life creation.
Think of candles as a tool to channel specific intentions and release the energy you have created into the world around you. Candles do deal with fire and the use of a lighter or a match of some sort so please be careful and make sure that you are taking the proper precautions.
CANDLE SAFETY
Please never leave your candle unattended when lit. Not only is this a fire hazard but its so helpful for your craft for you to spend time with your candles. There is no set it and forget when it comes to magick.
Let me say that one more time so that it really resonates with you. There is no such thing as setting it and forgetting it when it comes to magic. This is where your intentions start to become unclear and unfocused and can be the reason why you are having trouble manifesting.
Take the time to cater all of your energy into your magick pre and post-spell and watch how your work comes to fruition. If you must stop your candle from burning and wish to return to the spell late, make sure that you safely wrap the candle and protect its energies so that it will still align with your intentions when you wish to resume. This is especially helpful if you are practicing long-term rituals.
COLOR CORRESPONDENCE
We perceive color as different wavelengths that are reflected off of matter. Together our eyes and brain receive sensations that we perceive as different colors. Everyone is drawn to specific colors and different shades of that color using what feels like will best help you reach your goals.
You are the magic that interacts with physical things that makes the transformation of energy possible. Below I have listed general guidelines for candle correspondence but do not feel limited by them, there are so many shades of every color that will make you more inclined to choose them as you should.

DOES CANDLE SHAPE MATTER
Keep in mind the size of your candle and how long it will take to burn. Wider candles are great for adding herbs, crystals, and resin into your spell. smaller candles are good for shorter rituals, while larger ones will be better for longer rituals.
You can anoint and dress all candles by rolling bare candles in oil and herbs of choice, while candles held in jars can easily have holes poked into them or deep carved symbols can also hold herbs and oils into place while you candle is put to work.
There are a variety of shapes the candles come in, all of which can intuitively be incorporated into your practice. When thinking of the shape of your candle, think about the spell at hand. If you are performing an unbinding ritual it can be helpful to use people shaped candles and physically unbind them during the spell but you could easily perform this with the use of two tapered candles.
Penis and vagina shaped candles can be amazing to promote sensuality but so is using a red tealight. This will all depend on the type of work you are performing and how deep you choose to get into it. What does that shape mean to you will determine if that will help you in your practice or not.
DRESSING CANDLES APPROPRIATELY
Anointing your candle in oil will help you solidify your intentions and an effective way for you to spend time with your candle. Choose an oil that will align with your purpose and help increase the potency of your magic.
If you want to bring the energy of your spell into your life, rub oil from top to middle, bottom to center. If you would like to release an energy rub oil from the middle to the top, from center to the bottom.
After anointing you can lightly roll your candle in herbs or powder. Make sure that it is a very light coating because too many herbs can cause the candle to burn uneven and make your flame to become unstable.
DIVINATION
There are a few ways to read a flame on your candle. While performing work you can watch the flame and it will tell you a lot about how your spell is doing while the candle is lit.
If you have a small flame you can assume that the spell work will be slow, the energy is there somewhat but it will be a slow transition into your goal. If you have a flame that keeps going out reevaluate, there are energies confirming this is not the right time to practice in general or to not perform this type spell work at the moment.
Look into your inner self and make sure that you are fully ready to manifest, and that any other energies you are looking for are also ready to work with you. A high flame means that your spell will work quickly, it is ready to be accepted into the universe and is awaiting your push to dive into your desired reality.
If you are using candles for deity worshiped you can read messages from the flames of your offering. It can be helpful to add herbs or powder directly into the flames and interpret the smoke and light coming off the candle to answer any questions you may have. You also have the ability to draw symbols, runes, sigils, and draw them onto your candle to support your magic.
