How to be okay with change

ree

Change is such an important part of life. It's how the bad can turn into the good and even how good times can roll into bad ones.

Everything we are experiencing as human beings is temporary. Every emotion, pain, and pleasure will pass and new beginnings will come.

These cycles of life and death are about the only thing guaranteed to us, but oftentimes, when we know change is approaching it, can spark symptoms of anxiety.

This fear of the unexpected or even fears of the worst possible outcome robs us of one of life’s greatest pleasures which is a transition.

Now I love a good transition; I mean who doesn’t? A transition is basically with time how you make your way from one state of being to another.

In this article, I will be sharing the top 6 ways you can be okay with change. Use these tools when fear bobs its ugly face into your life so that the fear can be transformed into acceptance.

1. Ground yourself in the present moment.

To ground yourself means to be aware of your surroundings both time and place. As well as finding your contentment in experiencing this very moment.I am very aware of how difficult grounding can be when you are oozing with emotion so here are a few techniques that help me when I am feeling ungrounded.

Use your opposite hand to squeeze your way across both arms while saying that you can feel your hand squeezing your arms. What can you see in your direction of vision, when you look to the left, to the right, say aloud what you can see and give these things adjectives? I can see a beautiful little ladybug crawling on the pavement just in front of my toes as an example. Now continue this and go through at least 2 more senses such as touch, taste, and feel.

Another possible technique that's better used when you have not lost your mind is to sit on the ground preferably outside but not required and imagine there are roots coming from the soles of your feet and reaching down into the depths of the earth. Imagine as these roots work through the soil and sediment, through the earth's crust, and slowly but surely make their way to the earth's core where it becomes entangled with the roots of life. Rooting itself into the earth and to all of the living things big and small that come from the earth, like a tree that needs the soil for its survival.

2. Observe & reflect

How am I reacting? Am I overanalyzing or pushing it away so that I don't have to face the undeniable truth? If you are overthinking it can feel good to dance or to do a journal page to empty your brain of anything you are thinking. Pour yourself onto the page with a brain dump..

3. Practice divination.

Any form of divination can give you a perspective on your situation that is coming from an outside point of view. It's important to take yourself out of the situation so that you can understand the facts and weigh your options.

4. Find your silver lining.

What are the positives of your situation, find what you can take away from this experience. Even if that just means learning the lesson. Just make sure you actually understand the lesson though because you might find that experience crossing your path again, in a new way.

5. Show your gratitude.

Just sit and think for 2-5 minutes about all of the things, people, and experiences that you are grateful for. You can write this list down, put pictures and sigils around this page and use it as a guide to read aloud every day as a reminder to show gratitude.

6. Be about the transition.

Never forget how extraordinary you are, this is exactly where you need to be there is no doubt. Follow through on actions that will ultimately make your transition into change more pleasurable. It's never too early to make a realistic plan. Notice I say realistic and not pessimistic. Life isn't all rainbows and butterflies but it also doesn't have to be chaos & ruins. Being about the transition means finding that perfect way to ease you into your new situation.
