How to prepare for the New Moon

ree

The significance of the New Moon

The new moon is the beginning of the moon cycle, physically the moon can not be seen among the dark sky with the naked eye.

However the new moon is wonderful for you to gaze upon the stars, the darkness allows other things to shine.

Even within yourself you can connect with your shadow side so that you can be your best self for the next upcoming moon cycle.

The new moon is the perfect time for you to set your intentions for the month. What are your goals for the month, the habits you want to instill in yourself, what would you like to accomplish by the end of this lunar cycle.

When the functionality of your life is based on the movements of the moon , you offset your schedule a bit from the traditional calendar.

By using the moon as a structure of my lifestyle practices I feel like I've been able to really take control of my schedule.

There is always with each phase of the moon a few seconds where the moon is actually in its phase.

This is because the moon is never stagnant and is a constantly orbiting celestial body.

With this information in mind it is very common for people to limit their moon phase practice to the night or day of the new moon.

Whereas I find it extremely helpful to prepare for the new moon before the new moon can actually take place.

So in the transition of waning crescent to new moon my intentions have already been set and i am ready to take on the month ahead.

How to pregame for the new moon

Planning is extremely important to my lifestyle and provides me with structure. Planning itself is important for a continuously successful execution, regardless of who you are.

Pregaming for the new moon will typically take place a few days before the new moon after I have reflected on the past month after waning crescent practices.

The most significant part of my pregaming is that I create a page in my spiritual journal that is a lot like bullet journal planning.

Bullet journaling has always appealed to me because of the freedom of your creativity and expression of self throughout the entire process.

My downfall with bullet journaling is that when I was busy creating pages of blank days it would take hours of time that I simply could not spare.

To fit my practice I have limited myself to a one page monthly spread where I can easily look at all of my goals and keep track of all of my habits.

This page makes easy reference throughout the month as well as a template for me to see how well I have been able to keep on top of myself when it comes to the goals I have been setting.

I do not separate my spirituality practices from my everyday life so I usually have one journal with me that contains the core of my lifestyle.

But having multiple journals like for writing down dreams and interpretations , learning specific topics that will take much expansion is almost always necessary as to not be confused where your information is residing.

However this is the perfect place to build a foundation that you can expand upon, I like to reference this as my spiritual journal.

Pregame checklist

  • Brain dumping

    • To properly brain dump you have to open your heart and mind. Heart chakra affirmations Allow yourself to be free of any judgment and bear your soul to the page. There is no thought too little. Your brain dump should include how you are feeling today. How well were you able to reach your goals? Your lifestyle balance. Energy you would like to incorporate next month. Next month's potential goals. Literally anything and everything that comes into your mind, just express yourself without limitations.

  • Evaluation of last cycles performance

    • After doing this brain dump you will have already at least thought of how well you were able to execute your plans last month. With this in mind just take a few moments to really give thought to your current situation. Are there areas where you can increase or decrease your productivity? What are your priorities now and will they need to change in order for you to have a successful upcoming moon cycle?

  • What are your main goals? Personal, mental, spiritual, physical, career, passions...ect

    • Now you can give yourself realistic goals. What absolutely needs to happen this month that you are set on fulfilling?

  • Give yourself structure and focus on creating habits that you are happy with.

    • Your goals should now be a bit more narrowed down. Now instead of setting singular activities on your goals focus on highlighting habits you want to change, remove, or add into your lifestyle. Instead of putting into your journal that you will work out 4 times a week to be more active. Instead aim for 30 minutes of any type of physical activity everyday so that you can live a healthier more achievable lifestyle. This will look different to everyone but that change of mind is what allowed me to be able to regularly exercise and take care of my physical body.

  • How are you going to follow through with actions

    • Have some type of method, one will be included below, so that you can make sure you are actually building good habits. How can you ensure that your goals and intentions will be met with significant action. Action is necessary for true and impactful manifestation.

Example

After self evaluation and narrowing down your goals you can create a planning page that I personally use to guide my life.

Same planning page just in PDF form.

This is just an example of what that page can look like. Every month will change with your different goals and intentions for the month, so your page doesn't have to look like what is shown above.

Besides my main headers I usually put a quote on the page that I know will inspire me next month. It would even be a great place for a sigil or an image of anything that inspires you.

The habit tracker I have is one of the simplest that I have ever seen and used. Each dot represents a day on my tracker and I cross lines over that dot based on which of the goals I have completed that day.

This method is easy to keep track of your habits and reference later when you are pregaming for the next month. Another option is to simply cross things out or highlight them as completed when you have goals that don't necessarily need to be tracked everyday.

Spirituality is like exercise, no one really likes to be sore but to be sore is also a great feeling because you know your body is rebuilding itself and making you stronger.

There are always healing pains during your spiritual journey for growth , and throughout your life. When one is spiritual they have looked within themselves so that they know exactly how to heal themselves from the traumas in life so one can actually enjoy being alive.
